A summer's day in Berlin. Determined and searching at once, 21-year-old Deniz (Serpil Turhan) is constantly on the move, on the subway or the S-Bahn, in a cab or by foot. The depiction of the routes taken through the city - Südliche Friedrichstadt, Wannsee, Bahnhof Zoo, Tiergarten - give this final part of Arslan's Berlin trilogy a rhythm of its own. Deniz breaks up with her boyfriend, meets her mother and sister, and encounters another young man. She is accompanied by thoughts about love. In the dubbing studio, she voices Rohmer's film Conte d'été; at a casting call, she narrates a scene from Pialat's À nos amours in a sober and intense manner; in a conversation with a scientist, she discusses the cultural history of love. It is not only these different ways of speaking and references that make the film, shot with natural light and original sound, a space for reflection. (bik)
